Structures of Being
Great orders of being, seen side by side
In every age, human beings have tried to describe the order of life. Systems have grown from this: the Tree of Life of the Kabbalah, the I Ching, the number teaching of Pythagoras, the levels of consciousness in Sri Aurobindo. Structures of Being presents them on one surface. Each system remains in its own language and logic.
The map
At the top you choose a system. It appears in the middle. A click on one of its parts, for example a Sephira, a hexagram or a number, shows the explanation on the right. Best on a computer or tablet.
What the map shows
- Tree of Life: the ten Sephiroth and the paths between them. In addition, separate views for letters, pillars, triads, polarities, Da'at and the Tree of Knowledge.
- I Ching: the 64 hexagrams.
- Ganesha: the 32 forms of Ganesha according to the Mudgala Purana, from the Child (Bāla) to the Liberator from Distress (Saṅkaṭahara). For each form the map shows colour, arms, mount, the threshold it stands for, and a detailed text. The forms are arranged in four phases: learner, journeyman, teacher, master.
- Pythagoras: “All is number.” The basic forms and numbers of his teaching.
- The Heart: the heart in the traditions, with a network of 15 traditions.
- Tarot: the 78 cards.
- Aurobindo: the levels of consciousness.
- Numbers: the meaning of individual numbers.
- Library: reading list and overview of the systems.
